11 OF THE MOST FAKED FOODS IN THE WORLD

INSIDER BUSINESS

Teachers’ notes

Counterfeit foods are pervasive, driven by profit motives, and pose risks to both consumers and industries. Some widely faked foods include maple syrup, truffle oil, Parmesan cheese, wasabi, vanilla, caviar, coffee, saffron, olive oil, and Wagyu beef. Criminal networks operate like companies, researching trends and creating sophisticated counterfeit products. Despite occasional crackdowns, the complex international supply chain makes it challenging to catch all counterfeits. Consumers can help by scrutinizing ingredient lists and making informed choices, but more robust laws, penalties, and enforcement are needed to combat this billion-dollar fraudulent food industry. Ultimately, awareness and informed purchasing decisions can make a difference in reducing the prevalence of fake foods.

This is a longggg video but it’s conveniently broken down into chapters for you to pick and choose from. I use the intro, parmesan, olive oil and outro.

Level-wise the video is suitable for higher intermediate students and above.
