The Economist YouTube channel, as you might expect, focuses on videos that cover global economic issues as well as trending political and social events.

We like this channel because it provides some ¨meaty¨ topics for us to explore and the videos, which are often longer than most («long» means 20 minutes instead of 6 or 7),  are normally broken down into shorter ‘chapters‘ on Youtube. With the Economist, you are all but guaranteed high-quality analysis, insights, and commentary so they make for interesting viewing.

Level

Level-wise, the Economist videos are often thought-provoking with «heavy» topics, which can make them more challenging (and enjoyable if you like that kind of thing!). Language-wise, they are suitable for upper-intermediate (B2) level and above.
